Where can I take English courses?

May 12, 2023

At International Language Centres (ILC), we have English language courses for everyone.  You can choose to study English in any of our six distinct locations that will suit the study environment best for your needs.  We have city centre locations ranging from Britain’s second biggest city, Birmingham, to the historic, pretty city of Colchester.  You might want to choose the world-famous location of Cambridge or the fashionable, arty and popular city of Bristol.  Perhaps you prefer studying by the sea?  In that case, the port cities of Southampton or Portsmouth on the south coast may appeal to you most.  Whichever ILC location you choose, you can be confident in your choice of English course.

ILC is one of the largest groups of English Language Schools in the UK in which you can find different types of English Courses.  For General English, we have our Main Course, which is 20 lessons (or 15 hours) per week.  We recommend you maximise your time in England by studying our Main Course Intensive of 30 lessons (or 22.5 hours) per week.  This course includes an additional afternoon Communication Skills element that focuses on your speaking, listening and vocabulary based around a carefully chosen topic.

Perhaps you want to improve your English before starting a UK university degree or starting?  Our IELTS courses will train you in useful techniques to improve your speaking, reading, listening and writing skills to get you the IELTS grade you need to succeed at a UK university or to enter a job where a good IELTS exam score is required.

You may want to gain some work experience in an English-speaking environment, so you could choose our Main Course + Volunteering programme that gives you general English in the morning and a few hours volunteer work with a locally based charity organisation.

We try to create English language courses for everyone, so if you cannot study in the daytime, you could book a place on one of our Evening courses in Birmingham, Bristol, Portsmouth or Southampton.  These run twice a week in the evening and provide necessary English for you to meet your language goals.

ILC also runs Summer Programmes for Junior learners.  Depending on the ILC Centre, you can either opt for a Residential Centre in which there is special all-day care for young learners or you could choose a non-residential summer programme for students who have a family guardian in the city or with a specially chosen homestay provider.  Summer Junior programmes contain special classes for children in the morning and a fun activity programme in the afternoons.

You can find information about Visa requirements for ILC English language courses on our website, as well as other information about prices, activities and how to apply.  ILC is very happy that you have chosen to find an English language course with us and we hope to see you soon at any of our Centres!
