Portsmouth is a city in Hampshire, England. The town was founded in the early 13th century and served as the Royal Navy's headquarters for three centuries. Today, Portsmouth is home to one of the UK's most important ports and has a population of about 200,000 people. Portsmouth has many attractions you can visit when you're here, including historic attractions such as HMS Victory and The Mary Rose museum ship; historical attractions such as Portsmouth Historic Dockyard; modern museums like Gunwharf Quays shopping centre; churches like St Thomas a Becket Church; restaurants like Ciao! Pizza Bar & Grill; pubs like The George Hotel
Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is home to more than 100 historic ships, including Nelson's flagship HMS Victory. The dockyard is open all year round, so you can enjoy a family day out there at any time of year. There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby if you want to take a break from looking at ferry and boats!
Spinnaker Tower is a landmark of Portsmouth, and it's easy to see why. The tower stands over 200 metres tall and offers panoramic views across the city and beyond. It's also a great place to watch the sunset, especially when you're up there with someone special. The tower has lifts and stairs so that everyone can enjoy its beauty.
The Spinnaker Tower is the perfect place to see some of the best views of Portsmouth and the Solent area. This iconic landmark is located at Gunwharf Quays and offers 360-degree views of the city, surrounding countryside and ocean. The tower was built in 2005 as part of a major regeneration project that transformed Portsmouth's waterfront area into a thriving hub for shopping, dining and entertainment.
It also has its restaurant on top called Panorama at The View From Above which serves modern British cuisine along with drinks from their bar overlooking Gunwharf Quays.
Gunwharf Quays is a popular tourist attraction in Portsmouth and is home to three museums: the National Museum of the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines Museum and The National Museum of the Royal Air Force. There are also shops, restaurants and bars here.
The Historic Dockyard is home to more than 100 historic ships, including HMS Victory and the world's first ironclad warship, HMS Warrior.
The Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is a must-visit when you're in town. It's home to over 100 historic vessels including Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2), HMS Victory and Nelson's flagship HMS Victory which was built in 1765. You can also see The Mary Rose Museum here which houses one of Henry VIII's warships that sank off Portsmouth Harbour with nearly 500 people onboard in 1545.

Old Portsmouth is the oldest part of Portsmouth, and it's home to many historic buildings and attractions. It has a rich history and culture that makes it a great place to visit and explore.
The area was first settled in 1612 when John Mason established his plantation at what is now South Street Landing Park. The area remained largely rural until 1794 when Elizabeth Castle (the current Portsmouth Harbor Light) was built on Hog Island by President George Washington himself! This fortress helped protect America against British attacks during the War of 1812 as well as hurricanes which struck New England throughout history; however, since its decommissioning in 1858 only ruins remain today due to erosion caused by Hurricane Carol back in 1954
Portsmouth Cathedral is the oldest building in Portsmouth and has been there since 1060. It's a Norman cathedral, which means it was built during the time of William I (William the Conqueror).
It's also Grade I listed, which means it's an important historical building that needs to be protected from harm or damage.
You can visit Portsmouth Cathedral for free if you want to see some of its history first-hand! There are lots of different things going on inside this historic place - including baptisms, weddings and funerals - so make sure to check out their website before coming along with friends or family members who might want something different than what you do!
Portsmouth is a great place to visit, with many attractions to see. The city is also close to the Isle of Wight. The Spinnaker Tower is the best place from which to view Portsmouth's skyline and harbour. It has an observation deck at its top and provides views of Gosport and Southsea Castle as well.
The cathedral is another must-see attraction in Portsmouth; it was built in 1835 and remains one of England's most beautiful cathedrals today. It's also worth visiting The Hard (where Henry VIII founded his Royal Navy).
