IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is an examination in academic English skills required by many universities and colleges and healthcare institutions. Additionally, applicants for Citizenship and certain types of visa are required to prove that their English is at a certain level and IELTS is a recognised way of doing this.
Our preparation course helps you build exam strategies and language skills for taking IELTS and improves your familiarity with the exam format. It consists of 30 lessons a week (09.30-15.00; Monday to Friday). This is the same as 22.5 hours. 20 of these hours are the same as in the IELTS Preparation course and take place in the mornings. Most of this time is spent on Writing, Reading and Listening skills. In the Intensive IELTS course, 10 lessons of the 30 lessons per week are devoted to ‘Communication Skills’ where the focus is on general speaking, reading and listening skills and topic-based vocabulary.
Like the shorter IELTS Preparation course, this course is intended for any student who is planning to sit the IELTS exam. Students who can invest more time in the course can benefit from more practice, particularly in speaking. They also will gain a lot of input on their development from experienced IELTS teachers.
In order to benefit from this course, students need to have reached B1 level already. Students studying within the school can transfer to IELTS, once they have studied for at last 3 weeks in a general class at that level. New students can join at anytime if they score B1 or more on our placement test.
